Holiday shopping

Sat Nov 29, 2008, 12:12 PM
Well after yesterday I guess holiday shopping can only go up from here...I hope.

Normally I don't touch on news events but, I can't believe what people will do just to get the latest toy from a toy store! I had no idea about all the stuff that happened on Black Friday, (because I don't watch much TV), until I went to a comedy show staring Christopher Titus. Which incidentally was a great and entertaining show and if you are in the area of San Jose, I would recommend going to the IMPROV comedy club and seeing him, he's there until the 30th of this month. He mentioned that a shooting took place at a Toy R Us (possible over a personal matter at the wrong place, at the wrong time and WITH GUNS!) and a person was crushed to death by stampeding humans at a WalMart on my home Island no less in New York! I worked at a toys'R'US, so this is quite shocking to me! All I can say is people remember, it's just a toy! A human life is a lot harder to replace! I actually made a comic a while back based on my experiences working at Toys'R'Us which I thought then was just exaggerated fun, boy was I wrong! Now I look at it and what I though was a joke at the time turns my stomach. And so none of you write me asking "where is this comic?", here is the link:

Needless to say, I'm glad I'm not working in retail anymore, the only time I was more nervous at work, than when the Nintendo DS first came out, was when I was working at Sears with my sister and we found out that they were handing out free stainless steel paring knives to the costumers at a demonstration in the store. This was during the holiday shopping season. I was like "Oh great, now I have the comfort of knowing that if an angry customer gets pissed off at me, they can pull a knife on me and shank me!" And let me tell you people you stay very aware of your surroundings for the rest of the day. So people please be mindful of the people around you when you are shopping, for any reason. That being said have a safe holiday and shopping experience.

PS. I do most of my shopping online now.

Happy Holidays!

Yeah, these people are crazy sometimes. I got a friend who works at Wal-mart, in the toy section no less, and she was swamped for 8 hours straight. Sick, sad stuff.

Also, yay Titus.

My mom works at our local Walmart and she said they had to call in four police units before the store even opened because there were fights breaking out in the lines. :/

It's sickening and kind of pathetic.

I don't like shoping in general, but this is the reason why I shop online during the holidays. People get out of control, and the stress causes people to go bezerk at the slightest thing. It's kinda sad and yet pathetic at the same time.

I heard of that trampling as well, though I may have heard it as a Wal-Mart....either way.

And there's why I'm thankful for not shopping on these hotspot days. It's strange how people mention what could happen, and suddenly that becomes a reality.

50, or maybe 100 years from now, men will realize the futility of war, and learn how to live in peace with one another- Jean (Chuck Norris Demolition Man) Roque Ralitque, Nadia: The Motion Picture

How do you prosecute a thing like that too?
:icondabassistlaura178:
Who knows, maybe they can't since they can't really prove who trampled him enough to kill him. I feel bad for the man's family.

I know and I bet your mom has a problem with people not treating her nicely too. Cause the second you put on that store uniform and walk in those doors, you're not a person anymore in the eyes of those customers, you become the personification of that store and people forget you are a human being. It's crazy.
